Module Overview

Module 1: Reduce Stress – Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

When: January 24th – 28th 2018 (Wednesday – Sunday)
Where: Lios Dana Lodge – Co Kerry, Ireland
Format: 5 day residential retreat + 1 online tutorial + 2 peer meetings.

This module consists of a 5-day silent retreat which focuses on stress reduction tools from the well-known ‘Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction’ (MBSR) program developed by UMASS Medical School. It is particularly beneficial for Healthcare professionals who are subjected to considerable levels of stress such as work overload, excessive working hours, repeated exposure to emotionally charged situations, sleep deprivation, dealing with difficult patients and conflicts with other staffs. This module offers tools to work with the anxiety, depression, stress-related illness, burnout, sleep issues & maladaptive coping patterns that are all too common in the healthcare workforce. All practices are immediately applicable to the real world and have helped thousands of professionals to more effectively manage the stress inherent in care-giving roles.

Module 2: Increase Compassion – Mindfulness Based Self-compassion

When: May 10th – 13th 2018 (Thursday – Sunday)
Where: Ennismore Retreat Centre – Co Cork Ireland
Format: 4 day residential retreat + 1 online tutorial + 2 peer meetings.

This module focuses on learning tools from the ‘Mindfulness Based Self-compassion’ (MBSC) program developed by Christopher Germer & Kirsten Neff from the Centre for Mindful Self Compassion. It allows Healthcare professionals to learn simple ways to foster a sense of warmth & compassion for themselves and their patients in stressful healthcare settings, where burnout and empathy fatigue are regrettably widespread. Practices are quick, effective and easily & immediately applied on the ward, in the clinic or at home. The tools learnt in this module allow healthcare staff to cultivate resilience and loving-kindness in the face of illness & suffering. Once implemented participants report a greater sense of mental and physical well-being and open-heartedness towards themselves, their colleagues & those they care for.

Module 3: Improve Communication – Mindful Communication

When: September 20th – 23rd 2018 (Thursday – Sunday)
Where: Nano Nagle Centre – Mallow, Co Cork Ireland
Format:  4 day residential retreat + 1 online tutorial + 2 peer meetings.

This module consists of a 4-day training retreat which focuses on learning mindful communication strategies from enquiry and interpersonal meditation practices such as Insight Dialogue, Focusing & Non-violent Communication.  Participants learn how to better communicate as part of a healthcare team using enhanced skills of mindful listening and speaking. They learn tools to create more genuine connection and understanding with colleagues and patients. There will be a particular focus on managing difficult interactions and how to successfully navigate & diffuse these situations more skillfully. Through using these tools participants report more self-awareness, improved relationships, enhanced collaborative teamwork & increased job satisfaction.

Here is what you’ll receive:
